Are email address case sensitive? NO, Here’s why

Hi myself Prem, I have worked as Microsoft 365 Support Ambassador and in this blog I will talk about “are email address case sensitive” in general.

Email addresses can end with domains like gmail.com, hotmail.com, Outlook.com, etc. One can setup email address ending with their own domain as well.

If you have any custom domain, you should be able to create email address with it using email service from any email service provider.

Microsoft 365 is one of the email providers that can be used to add a custom domain and then create as many email addresses you want.

Few things that we should know about email addresses:

Are email address case sensitive: The answer to this is No, the email addresses are not case sensitive.

For example, if you want to send email to abc@abc.com, then it does not matter if you type ABC@ABC.COM or abc@ABC.com or ABC@abc.COM, etc. in the To field of the email.

Are email address case sensitive

The recipient abc@abc.com, should still be able receive the email which you have sent to them.

Email addresses are mostly presented in the all small letter format, so the ideal looking email address would be abc@abc.com in terms of the above example.

In office 365, you can add many custom domains and then create many email addresses with it.
