Hi Everyone this is Prem, I have worked as Microsoft 365 Support Ambassador. We see a lot of ticket for “How to Replace a Payment method in Office 365 ”. In this blog I am going to share steps which we have to follow to replace the payment method successfully.
When we add a new payment method in Office 365 it does not automatically get applied to the existing subscription. We have to manually assign the new payment method to each of the subscription which we want to charge on the new payment method.
Adding or updating a new payment method do not automatically make it a payment instrument for existing subscription. In this blog we will see how to replace the existing payment method with a new one.
If we add a new payment method and do not replace it on the existing subscription, you will still be billed on the old payment method which is still applied to the subscriptions, deleting the old payment method does not remove it from the existing subscriptions
Steps to replace the payment method in Office 365 after adding a new payment method:
1.In the admin center, go to the Billing then Your products page:
2.On the Products tab, find the subscription that you want to pay for with the alternate payment method.
3.Select the three dots (more actions), then select Replace payment method:
4.In the Replace payment method pane, from the drop-down list, choose an alternate payment method, or choose to add a payment method.
5.If you add a payment method, enter the card or account details, then select Save
6.Verify that the selected payment method is correct, then select Replace.
7.Repeat the process for the subscription you want to charge on the new payment method.
Once you replace the payment method you should be able to see the new payment method details applied to each subscription you replaced it for.
