Hi Everyone this is Prem, I have worked as Microsoft 365 support ambassador. We see a lot of ticket for “Not able to create resource account for teams call queue and auto attendant”. In this blog I am going to share a common step which we used to suggest to end users.
In Microsoft Teams, a resource account is required for each auto attendant or call queue. Resource accounts may also be assigned service telephone numbers.
When we try to create resource account from the teams admin center it gives us an error message in a red box at the top: “We can’t save changes to <username>.” this is because the domain which you are using to create the resource account might be not accepted for creating one:
Steps to create a resource account from the teams admin center :
1. Go to Resource account section in teams admin center by using the link directly here or you can navigate by clicking on Voice tab and then Resource accounts tab in the teams admin center
2.Click on Add:
3. Provide the information to create resource account like Display Name, Username and Resource account type(Resource account type. The resource account type can be either Auto attendant or Call queue, depending how you intend to use this resource account):
4.For us to create a resource account successfully we will have to use domain ending with onmicrosoft.com instead of our custom domain.
This is important as if you try to do create a resource account for any purpose(The resource account type can be either Auto attendant or Call queue, depending how you intend to use this resource account) and you use custom domain which you have on your Office 365 tenant(eg: abc.com), Then you might get the error again.
So you will have to use your domain ending with .onmicrosoft.com (Eg: @abc.onmicrosoft.com).
5.Click Save.
This is the step which we use for this issue, do let us know if this helped you to fix the issue.
