Fixed Not able to Make and Receive calls in Microsoft Teams

Hi Everyone this is Prem, I have worked as Microsoft 365 Support Ambassador. We see a lot of ticket for “Not able to Make and Receive calls in Microsoft Teams”. In this blog I am going to share a common step which we used to suggest to end users.

For us to receive calls in Microsoft teams we should first check the license which is assigned to the affected account. If a user has Microsoft teams license then it should enable it for Microsoft teams to Microsoft teams calling, host meeting ,etc.

For a user to make PSTN calls they should have Microsoft teams license plus a Phone system license plus Calling plan and a phone number assigned to their account to make and receive PSTN calls on.

If you have assigned the necessary license and still not able to receive calls on Microsoft teams and it goes directly to the voicemail when called, then please check the following steps.

Not able to Make and Receive calls in Microsoft Teams:

Go to Teams Admin Center using https://admin.teams.microsoft.com/ > Click on Users and then Manage users:

Click on the user’s name having issue:

Under Accounts tab check for Teams upgrade setting:

If it is not Teams only, Edit it and change it to Teams only and check the behaviour after 15 minutes.

This change should fix the issue of not receiving calls in Microsoft teams, do let us know if this helped you to fix the issue.
